Abstract
By examining the integrative processes of the Hungarian society we developed two models grouping the members of the Hungarian society based on dimensions of social integration: the Integration model and the Integrative-normative functionalist model. In our study we aim to examine the construction-validity of these two models and to compare their validity to the validity of other well-known models used in the Hungarian research on social stratification. Thus, we compare our models to the normative-functionalist model, the status-group model and to the latent class model. Our results suggest that, in line with the idea behind criterion validity-the different models perform good in different areas. While the normative-functionalist model and the status-group model show stronger correlation with dimensions of socio-economic status, the two models of social integration explain subjective, attitudinal variables better.
