Abstract
We investigate similarities and differences between our model of measuring social integration and previous models of social stratification in Hungary, using our data sample. The findings of the integration model and those of the previous models (occupational groups, status groups, latent classes) are dissimilar. We argue that modelling integration/disintegration is indispensable for understanding social differences. Although the model of social integration is more closely related to the model of latent classes that accounts for consumption patterns, than to the employment or status-based models, it has additional explanatory power. Therefore, we conclude by recommending the method of multimodelling inequalities.
